    Name: Sulis Amari

Age (in Federation Standard Years): 36
    Height: 1.68 m
    Weight: ...
    Hair Color: Black

    Skin Color: Nutmeg
    Biographical Data:
Sulis Amari was born in Bajor’s resource-rich Kendra Province, her father a vedek and her mother a tetrarch. Amari’s parents were killed by the Cardassians when she was six, however, and she was raised by her uncle, a prominent member of the local resistance. Amari did odd jobs for the Bajoran Underground from the time she was taken in by her uncle, and she first picked up a phaser when she was only eleven.

When Amari was twenty, her uncle was killed along with most of his cell; Amari was among the few to escape alive. Angry and hurt, she left Bajor, hoping to find help for the Bajorans from the outside. She chose to join Starfleet, hoping that as an officer she might be able to persuade the Federation to intervene on Bajor’s behalf. She had little success, but she proved herself an excellent tactical officer.

Lieutenant Sulis took emergency command of the Nebula-class USS Vanadium at the Battle of Wolf 359 when the captain was killed and the first and second officers were badly injured. Her quick thinking and skilled performance brought her to the attention of her superiors, who promoted her to commander and made her first officer of the Vanadium.

Two years later, when the Occupation of Bajor finally ended, Amari took an extended leave of absence to return to Bajor, where she studied in a monastery for two years, exploring her pah. When she returned to Starfleet, Amari had found a peace she hadn’t known before, knowing her people were free and the road to recovery had begun.

When the Dominion War broke out three years later, Amari’s tactical expertise again proved invaluable, and she was given full command of the Vanadium, fighting in numerous engagements, including the battle to retake Deep Space 9. The Vanadium took irreparable damage at the Battle of Chin’toka, however, and Captain Sulis has been given command of the USS Jerusalem, NX-66942, a prototype warship designed specifically to counter the Dominion threat.

Captain Sulis is well-known in Starfleet for her tactical expertise and her calm demeanor. She runs a tight ship, tighter than many Starfleet officers are used to, but she is fair and keeps an open ear to her officers. Many Starfleet captains prefer to command by democratic consensus, but Sulis, while happy to hear the input of her officers, reserves the final decision for herself; in battle there is no time for an unclear chain of command. That said, however, in day-to-day operations Sulis trusts her officers to carry out their duties without her direct intervention or supervision.

    Name: Maximilian Yittreas

    Biographical Data:
Maximilian Yittreas was born on Stardate 19314.4 on Ekos. He entered into a world in the midst of turmoil.

Ekos had long been plagued by war and anarchy. In the mid-2260s, Federation historian John Gill knowingly violated the Prime Directive to establish an orderly global government to aid in uplifting the pre-warp Ekosians. Unfortunately, the model he chose was the ancient German state when it was under the control of the National Socialist Workers Party of Germany. Gill believed the Nazi state was highly efficient, and sought to introduce a modified variant to the Ekosians. Unfortunately, despite his attempts to remove racial politics and genocidal urges from the ideology failed, and the Ekosian Nazi state quickly moved to singling the inhabitants of the neighboring world of Zeon as targets for eradication.

The Nazi regime was destroyed in 2268, thanks to the actions of the crew of the USS Enterprise and John Gill's sacrifice of his own life, as well as the actions of several Zeon insurgents. However, the lingering traces of the regime were retained. Tensions quickly resumed with Zeon, leading to open hostilities (with no small amount of instigation and escalation from the Klingons) in 2287. The conflict reradicalized Ekos and inflamed the once-peaceful people of Zeon, resulting in on-and-off warfare for seventy years. The death of a Starfleet officer in the system on Stardate 34675.8 led to a recommendation that the Federation withdraw protectorate status from the system and evacuate all forces.

The declaration that the system was a lost cause in the eyes of the Federation led a chilling of hostilities. Within a year, Zeon and Ekos were in talks for a formal peace treaty. Both sides, with Klingon help, had developed low-level warp drives (broadly comparable to the pre-NX drives used by humanity), and appealed to the Federation for mediation and resumption of protectorate status, with an eye to becoming associate members. Reluctantly, the Federation reengaged with system, on the basis that Ekosian government in particular abandon its National Socialist trappings.

The planets Zeon and Ekos were formally inducted into the Federation on Stardate 37015.9. Eager to capitalize on this inclusion into the wider galactic community, Chancellor of the Democratic Ekosian Global Republic Lermek started a campaign to get Ekosians to join Starfleet. Among the Ekosian youth who noticed this campaign was an almost-eighteen year old Maximilian Yittreas.

Yittreas was fascinated by the history of his world, and the history of the world that had helped reshape it. He read, first, about the World Wars, primarily focused on the First and Second that had bred the regime that now ruled his world. He quickly was disgusted by the racist rhetoric of the Nazis, past and present, but knew to keep his opinions to himself. While the Ekosian state wasn't quite as repressive as under Melakon, arrests for subversion and defeatism were still daily occurrences. There were also dangers from the populace; at fifteen, Max was involved in altercation with a classmate who had heard rumors of Yittreas' political views. In the course of the fight, the enraged student drew an ancestral Gill Youth dagger and slashed Max across the left eye. The blade narrowly missed his eye and left him with a permanent scar through his left eyebrow.

With the government rapidly restructuring to comply with Federation demands but the culture still steeped in fascist rhetoric, Max jumped at the chance to get off world and see the galaxy. In 2360, Max was among the second class of Ekosian students sent to Starfleet Academy in San Francisco. He initially sought to study engineering, having a knack for drawing fanciful (by Ekosian standards) machines and starships. However, the academic demands quickly weighed heavily on Yittreas, who was used to a technological base two to three centuries behind what he was studying. He lamented to his academic advisor that it was akin to, “explaining how to build, drive, and maintain a Jagdpanther to one of Frederick the Great's grenadiers.”

He transferred to the science track his second year. Max quickly developed a knack for chemistry and physics, though the mathematical requirements for the latter quickly strained him. He opted to focus on chemistry and developed a great interest in physical and inorganic chemistry. Yittreas was commissioned as an ensign in 2364 and posted to the USS Yosemite (NCC-19002). He quickly discovered that, while he might have been a political radical on Ekos, in the Federation, he was almost shockingly conservative. Max learned to avoid discussions on politics and the function of the state, if only to maintain a good working relationship with his shipmates on the small science vessel. On Stardate 42899.4, Yittreas was promoted to Lieutenant, Junior Grade. On Stardate 43455.7, he transferred to the USS Melbourne (NCC-62043). After publishing a dissertation on improving the Dikarev-Lieberman-Zhang process for producing single-source precursors for nanomaterials, Yittreas was promoted to Lieutenant on Stardate 43898. However, shortly after, on Stardate 43922.1, Yittreas was seriously injured by a containment field overload in the Melbourne's cargo bay while the ship was taking on supplies at Starbase 4. As a result, he was placed on three months medical leave to recuperate at the Starbase.

The Melbourne was destroyed less than five weeks later at the Battle of Wolf 359. Yittreas was deeply troubled; the counselor assigned to him eventually realized the lieutenant was suffering from survivor's guilt. The diagnosis was delayed as the counselor failed to take into account cultural differences between Ekos and the mainstream Federation and at first was nonplussed that Yittreas would feel guilty for surviving when his shipmates were lost. However, with the aid of older psychological manuals, the counselor was able to help Yittreas return to active duty.

The Borg invasion had killed 11,000 personnel and destroyed nearly forty starships. Yittreas was unable to focus on his scientific studies, and sought a change of designator. After a battery of aptitude tests, he was selected for conn training. He was relatively senior for the position, already carrying a full lieutenant's rank, but stuck through the courses. He quickly earned his certification and was posted to the USS Kumamoto (NCC-64926) as helmsman on Stardate 44420.1.

Yittreas' time aboard the Kumamoto lead him to start unofficially training with the security department. His duties didn't allow him to pursue it as more than a hobby, and the lieutenant would rarely be a match for the trained security personnel. However, Security Chief Nonna Petrukhina did note that Yittreas would get taken down over and over, but would stay in a bout just to land a few points against superior foes, and occasionally score a victory. She commended him for his persistence and willingness to learn... as well as provide hands-on training for her personnel.

Yittreas also resumed his studies of military history, which his closer colleagues would note—with some bemusement—tended to influence his tastes in music and holodeck programs. For six years, Yittreas served as the chief helm officer of the Kumamoto. His piloting helped save the ship from fatal damage at the Battle of Sector 001 in 2373. Even so, the ship was seriously damaged in the Borg attack and slated for decommissioning. Captain Shanmugasundaram cited Yittreas for his performance and recommended promotion at his next assignment.

As it happened, the USS Vanadium (NCC-) had just had its executive officer promoted to command of the USS Majestic (NCC-31060). Yittreas jumped at the chance , and was promoted to Lieutenant Commander. His previous experiences with dyed-in-the-wool Starfleeters led him to keep to himself, even with the decidedly unorthodox Captain Sulis.

During the Vanadium's participation in Operation: Return, Yittreas briefly took the helm when the conn officer was incapacitated by an incoming salvo. After the ship was declared a total loss at the Battle of Chin'toka, Yittreas transferred with Captain Sulis to the USS Jerusalem. In the Dominion, he has found unpleasant reminders of life on Ekos, and seeks to prevent another brutal dictatorship from taking over not just his homeworld, but the entire Alpha Quadrant.

(2347) Sam was born on Berengeria VII.  It’s a typical federation outpost planet aside from the 200 meter long reptiles that fly around and breathe fire.  Both of Sam’s parents were in Starfleet.  Sam’s father was the commanding officer of the Berengeria VII outpost and his mother was a field medic.  Berengeria VII with its thriving ecosystem and lack of indigenous intelligent life was the perfect planet for many looking for a frontier life and a less modern technological life.  These groups of people lived in small villages and lived off the land.  Because of this, Sam’s mother had to go to the villages to provide medical attention.

(2359) Sam went with his mother on a medical emergency after a devastating dragon attack hit one of the smaller villages.  While there he heard the banging of steel on steel.  He was so intrigued that he went in search of what the noise was.  When he found the noise it was a man hammering a piece of steel into a blade.  Sam was so fascinated by forging that he came back to the bladesmith and apprenticed.  Sam still makes his own weapons using the techniques he learned from that bladesmith.  Forging is his favorite hobby.

(2363)  Sam decided to follow in his parents footsteps and started preparing for the Starfleet entrance exams.

(2364)  One day while he was going to the bladesmith to work on his forging, he came across a baby Durkkor (essentially similar to a baby deer)  The Durkkor was caught in a thicket and couldn’t release itself.  Sam knew the Durkkor was easy pray for the dragons in the area so he went to help.  While cutting the animal free  he was attacked by a dragon.  The creature snapped at Sam and the Durkkor, which was almost free and frantically moving about.  Sam used his blade to fend off the dragon for a moment.  The Durkkor finally wiggled free of the last entanglements and ran off leaving just Sam and the dragon.  The Beast bore down on Sam.  Sam slashed at the dragon with all his might.  He wasn’t going to get another chance and with a thick hide like that of the dragons it was a slim chance at best.   The blade fortunately connected with one of the dragons eyes.  The dragon recoiled in pain and disorientation.  Angry the beast spat fire in every direction.  Sam got caught by one of the blasts.  His Right arm was pretty much incinerated on the spot.  He managed to escape but at a great cost.

(2365) Sam was fitted with a new and advanced arm prosthetic created by a friend of his fathers, Bruce Maddox.  Maddox worked at the Daystrom Technological Institute as a cybernetic expert and the associate chair of robotics.  Maddox had made advancements in his work after receiving correspondents from Lt. Commander Data, the most sophisticated android ever built and was eager to try his new prototype design.

(2366)  Entered Starfleet Academy with more determination to excel despite his disability.

(2367)  Excelled in command training, tactics, history, and weapons & shield engineering

(2369)  Cadet training aboard the U.S.S. Odyssey as an acting ensign

(2370)  Graduated with enough marks to be commissioned a Lt. junior grade and assigned to the U.S.S. Thunderchild.

(2372) Sam was promoted to full Lt. and assigned to the advanced weapons and shielding construction program at the Utopia Planitia ship yards.  He received this post on the recommendation of his captain who knew he would be right for the program after all the times Sam had reconfigured the weapons and shields on the Thunderchild to maximize efficiency or get them out of sticky situations.

(2374) Sam desired to be in the action during the Dominion War and asked for reassignment to a starship.  This was granted late in 2374.  He was assigned to the U.S.S. Venture.  He participated in the battle of Chin’toka where the Venture was heavily damaged.

(2375) Sam was promoted to Lt. Commander and assigned to the prototype starship U.S.S. Jerusalem.

Age (in Federation Standard Years): 28
    Height: 1.75 m
    Weight: 54.43 kg
    Hair Color: Black
    Eye Color: Blue
    Skin Color: White
    Biographical Data:
Eve Malkin grew up on Volan III, moving to Earth with her family at the age of 17 so she could attend the Academy. Her mother is a famous singer, known for her sultry voice and moving songs, and her father is a “paper pusher” for the Federation. Because of this, Eve, and her sister Myna, did not lack for opportunities. She learned how to navigate high society and in peering over her father’s shoulder she found her real area of expertise, in finding patterns in data.

Eve is highly intelligent, and graduated with honors in her Starfleet class. She worked with Starfleet in San Fran for several years after, working with a team of scientists and software developers in streamlining the universal translator. She worked on the coding side at first, but her talent for finding patterns helped smooth out bugs in the programs as it helped identify and replicate languages as she was easily able to help code for the structure of different language types.

She first served on a Starship in 2371 as a result of her working on the Universal Translator. She was given a special commission to help implement the new system, along with some other new software, into the U.S.S. Majestic. She served under the operations Commander for a year before being transferred to the U.S.S. Constellation with a similar commission. On both ships she was put in leadership roles. Starfleet called her back to Earth at the onslaught of the conflict with the Dominion, putting her in charge of communications on the U.S.S. Jerusalem because of her skills in data management, promoting her from a Lieutenant to a Lt. Commander.

Despite being head of Communications, Eve is not a linguist. She is familiar with the “feel” and structures of different language types, but has little grasp of their vocabulary. She is fluent in Standard, and can communicate effectively in the Romulan tongue, which also enables her to converse to some degree with Vulcans.

Eve really values her privacy, but has absolutely no compunctions about the privacy of others. She has created a program that can track the movements of a ship’s crew, anticipating “deviant behaviors” that would indicate someone is up to no good, or more importantly, would help detect the presence of a shapeshifter. This technology is highly classified, of course and is one of the key reasons that Starfleet Command has stationed her on the U.S.S. Jerusalem. Despite her many achievements in creating software for Starfleet, she prefers to keep a low profile.

Not all of the crew under Eve’s command is happy to have someone other than a linguist in charge of their department. Most were put more at ease, however, when Eve took the time to interview each of them, one by one, assessing their skills and weaknesses in order to better structure their schedules and positions. She let them know in no uncertain terms that she is there to help them accomplish their goals with the highest efficiency possible. She is fair, but at the same time, she recognizes that fairness is not a universal standard. She takes very little at face value and while Eve is not a bitter person, she is fairly skeptical. She considers herself to be a realist. In this vein, she is a rather sharp tongued individual, and does not always let people get close. She is highly intelligent, and shrewd enough to be charming when she needs to be.

She has no love for the Cardassians, and she is looking forward to this commission.

    Biographical Data:
J’Brasha was born on the Caitian colony of Narval. He started his career as a Starfleet marine in the Cardassian War, and his clan-sister H’Rassa was among those killed at the Setlik III Massacre. He served with Miles O’Brien aboard the Rutledge, and after the war he transferred to Earth where he served as a security officer at Starfleet Headquarters. He fought on the frontlines of the Klingon-Federation War and again in several early engagements of the Dominion War before being transferred to station security aboard Deep Space Nine after Operation: Return. He has now been promoted to chief of security aboard the USS Jerusalem, NX-66942.

J’Brasha is, by nature, cautious and patient in his security dealings but gregarious and outgoing in social situations. His powerful build and towering height can make him intimidating at first, but his charm soon shines through. As is typical for Caitians, he is fiercely loyal to his commanding officers (as well as his friends) to the point of a fault.

J’Brasha still feels guilt over the loss of his H’Rassa, and he looks forward to getting a little revenge against the spoonheads.

While serving, he built up mechanical skills and found that he gained more enjoyment from keeping the ship running than from any other post on the ship. He continued serving, eventually attaining the rank of Lieutenant and being put in charge of engineering.

A year into the Dominion War, the Federation began to run low on recruits due to their need for an increased military force as well as their early losses. As a result, they turned to the Andorian Defense Force for new personnel. Lieutenant Th'oriness was chosen and found himself enrolled in a makeshift Starfleet Academy to prepare him to work with Starfleet technology. After six months, he was stationed on Deep Space Nine for a couple of months while awaiting deployent.

I am from the rural town of Babbor on Bolarus IX. I attended Starfleet Medical Academy, where I met my wife Rimena, a Bolian from the village of Trigonal. She is a quadruplet, which is a big deal for our species! We both graduated from the Academy when we were 28 and were assigned to Betazed for a brief two year experience training position.

After our assignment on Betazed we returned to Bolarus IX to visit our family and introduce them to our two boys, Daxor and Vrixin. While we were there, Rimena and I met Mowd Fariht and his co-wives Frindru and Sosinu, who are twins. Mowd and his co-wives had a dream of running a hair salon for females of various hair-toting species that they had heard about. Rimena and I got along wonderfully with Mowd and his co-wives and our children enjoyed each other immensely. We proposed expanding our family with Mowd and his co-wives so they could join us as we were going to be stationed on Deep Space Nine and it would give them the opportunity to start their hair salon and give us the expanded family group that we have always wanted.

Since being stationed on Deep Space Nine three years ago our family has grown to include a total of ten children, Frindru's twins, Sosinu's three children, our two boys and our triplets. Mowd, Frindru and Sosinu have established a very successful female hair salon called "She's Got the Blues" that is always bustling with happy customers. Rimena and I have both been promoted in the medical staff to Lieutenant Commander.

This week has been very tumultuous for me. Rimena just told me she is expecting another addition to our ever-growing family and I learn of my assignment as medical officer on the NX-66942 Jerusalem. I am very gracious to be deemed worthy for this position and to be able to serve in this capacity, but at the same time am saddened to be leaving my family.

    Eye Color: Hazel
    Skin Color: Alabaster
    Biographical Data:
Sun Lian, “Lily” to her friends, was born on Mars in 2350, where her mother Sun Ling was a Starfleet engineer working at the Utopia Planitia yards and her father Sun Hai a well-known poet. When Lian was sixteen she applied for Starfleet Academy and was accepted quickly. Lian had a keen mind, with a sharp eye for details and patterns. She dual-majored in astrophysics and xenobiology, earning advanced degrees in both. Her theses on ketrecel white and Dominion shield technology earned her an early promotion and a post as chief science officer aboard the prototype starship USS Jerusalem, NX-66942.

Lieutenant Sun is confident, quiet, and inexperienced, though her lack of social grace can make her seem shy or even cold. She has spent her entire life in controlled “laboratory” situations, first at the Utopia Planitia and then at Starfleet Academy, and she sometimes has difficult grasping that good theories don’t always work as expected in practice—and can become frustrated as a result. While at first her demeanor can seem aloof, those who get to know her find her to be a loyal friend.

Sun Lian’s expertise with Dominion genetic engineering projects, biology, and technology makes her an ideal choice for the Jerusalem’s science officer, but her lack of experience has made some—including Lieutenant Sun herself—question the wisdom of making a young officer fresh out of the Academy head of a department. Fortunately, the Jerusalem’s science department is small.

Lian has an obsession for neatness bordering on OCD. She keeps her workstations and labs in precise order, and having her deftly arranged utensils moved—even slightly—can make her quite distraught. Given her propensity for patterns, it comes as little surprise that her preferred method of arrangement involves straight lines and simple patterns. If her items are even millimeters off she will notice. Her motto is “A place for everything and everything in its place.”

I'm not really ready to share our major NPCs like Captain Sulis yet, but when I do they'll be here. Meanwhile, here's the signup sheet; BBCode is disabled so you can copy the code directly. Under division and sex, just delete the option(s) that don't apply to your character. Recall that security falls under operations; I'm open to tactical falling under command or operations at your preference. Likewise, comm could be operations or science/medical. As stated in the other thread, under bio you don't have to give a full service history, but knowing at least what planet you come from, how/why you joined Starfleet, and what your last post was would be useful. Also why your character might have been assigned to a prototype warship.

Ok guys, it's been about a week. Let's get this show on the road! XD

    Name: Eve Ainsley Malkin
    Rank: Lt. Commander
    Position: Communications Officer
    Division: Science, background in Operations
    Species: Human
    Sex:

    Name: Maximilian Yittreas
    Rank: Commander
    Position: Executive officer, NX-66942 Jerusalem
    Division: Command
    Species: Ekosian
    Sex:
Age (in Federation Standard Years): 33
    Height: 178 centimeters
Weight: 785 Newtons, Terran standard gravity (Masses 80 kilos Wink)
    Hair Color: Dark brown
    Eye Color: Dark brown
    Skin Color: Fair

    Biographical Data:

(2370)  Graduated with enough marks to be commissioned a Lt. junior grade and assigned to the U.S.S. thunderchild

(2372) Sam was promoted to full Lt. and assigned to the advanced weapons and shielding consctruction program at the Utopia Planitia ship yards.

Jeruselm.

In 2375, he was posted to the U.S.S. Jerusalem as Chief Engineer...

The main post is up; go ahead and introduce your characters. The Promenade and habitat ring are open to you. Quark, Odo, Ezri, and Jake are on the Promenade if you wish to interact with them; sorry, but Sisko, Kira, Worf, and O'Brien are in Ops and Bashir is in the infirmary. Also, feel free to interact with each other and/or any of the NPC crew members (Lieutenant Sun, Lieutenant J'Brasha, or Subcommander Sovilak). Posts should be in present tense, third person, as usual for RPGs.

By the way, the lines in Sun Lian's intro attributed to Kerem Laan are from the Sleeping At Last song "Saturn." Smile

I mentioned this on Facebook, but it probably got buried. For more than a line or two of interaction between your character and an NPC (or your character and a PC), the best way to handle it is probably Facebook chat or private messages here on the board. That way the character's original author can maintain control of his/her character. For non-main NPCs, feel free to write them in as necessary, within reason.
